The room is full of cobwebs and dust, but the door is always open. A few black curls are still nestled in the bristles of her silver hairbrush. A quarter, nickel, dime, and three pennies that have turned black.

She's not coming back. Her bed is still turned down, waiting, last outfit crumpled by her bathroom door. The cellphone is laying on the dresser, on the charger, still chiming with notifications.

Father and daughter take one last look, and lay a folded sheet of paper on the bed.

"It's time to go." They turned and left for a new life.

Never say die.

When I was a rookie, the first person to introduce himself was Scott. I had heard of him, obviously, and admired what he'd accomplished. But I found a tremendous amount of respect for him off track. Being asked to drive alongside him at Daytona must be one of the highlights of my career, and I'll never forget how he had to explain to me what a Waffle House is either. And I still admire him today, still say hi when we pass every weekend. We're enemies now, on opposite sides of IndyCar's biggest rivalry, but our friendship will never die.

It was the worst day of my life. It was the day I felt life kicked me in the balls. He looked so peaceful, like he was asleep. I however knew it wasn't true. There was no light in his eyes, instead they were a discolored pale white. I wanted to hold him and wake him up like I had so many mornings to get him ready for school. Tempted to let the tickle monster attack and have him squeal to life like every weekend. Except I knew it wouldn't happen the way I wanted. He was simply just gone.

"It's time to say goodbye, but I think goodbyes are sad and I'd much rather say hello. Hello to a new adventure."

I'm in the best month of my career. I won my first race, which just happens to be the biggest race of the season. I'm second in the championship points standings. The car's been driving well ever since the Indy Grand Prix. I've been on Good Morning America and have an IndyCar Chronicles crew following me around.

There's absolutely no doubt that signing with Team Penske was the right move for me to make. I'm proud to be wearing the red, white and black and look forward to hopefully doing it in 2016.

Do I miss Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing? Absolutely. I enjoyed working with everyone there, getting to spend quality time with my father, and I appreciate everything they've ever done for me. But this was the right move for me, and I have no regrets about it.

"A wonderful thing about true laughter is that it just destroys any kind of system of dividing people."

It's amazing what good winning can do. Suddenly, I didn't want to punch him in the face anymore.

Shane and I have always gotten along; we've never been friends. You don't have to be friends to work together. All you have to do is get the car across the finish line every week. Which is what we've done, while otherwise disagreeing and arguing and trying to spend as little social time together as possible.

But Indianapolis was different. It's always different, but particularly this race. We knew we were just one step shy of the top. We both wanted that win. We both wanted to break that streak of being good, but not good enough. And it just felt like this was going to be the time. It was the car. It was starting alongside Scott and Will. It was having Frank there and not waiting for him to turn up after. Everything felt right.

I'll never forget the sound of Shane's voice in my ear in those last couple laps. Keeping me calm, telling me that I could do it. Then once I got around Will, he shut up and let me drive. When it mattered most, in the biggest moment of my life, he trusted me. He had my back. He made me laugh.

It's not like we've suddenly become similar people, and we'll never be best friends, but all it took was one good day to change our minds. I won't punch him anymore. I even invited him over for dinner. It's a start.

If there was one word to describe Tony Stark, it would not be alone. People had left him; some by choice, some not. His father had left him, emotionally, when he was too young to know what it really meant, but more permanently when he was older. His family had dwindled down to Pepper and Rhodey. Then the Avengers had slipped into the cracks that he called family. They filled the gaps that the void of losing his father had gradually sucked him into. Changing him from anti-everything to anti-just-some-things-or-people. What can he say? He was a work-in-progress.

Death is a touchy subject for many people. In the days of the Comic Code, and throughout much of Disney's career, the word was anathema, and even showing someone dying was forbidden. Even today, it's hard to talk about death sometimes.

Of course, that doesn't stop us from asking you for today's 100 word drabble subject: write a drabble about a character talking about death, without saying it.

How much do you plan your larger works? Are you an outliner, a seat-of-your-pantser, or somewhere in between?

I haven't done a larger work in this fandom, just a lot of smaller stories that are kind of linked. I've wanted to do a larger work, but time's been a problem. That said, I usually start out with some small thing- a line that hits me, a canon point I want to jump off of and/or change, and I go from there.

When was the last time one of your characters surprised you? What did they do?

It wasn't so much the character as the situation: in my (still incomplete, still untyped, still unposted...) Nano B5 fic, I wrote an event that worked out PERFECTLY with aired/written canon and ended up explaining a character's flaws and avoiding a time-travel paradox, and I didn't even do it intentionally! It was one of those totally intuitive 'eureka!' moments.

Less than a month till the end of bingo! Congrats to folks who have finished (going for a second line or card? :) ) and there's plenty of time left to those who are still working on it. If you haven't snagged a card yet, check out the rules and grab yours here.

Shameless plug for those of you who may be wondering what the heck is going on with those people anyhow - http://roll4itdice.com/ - we're forming a dice company (a subsidiary of our main Lab Arc LLC). You can find our dice in person at some stores already (like Game Paradise in Indiana :) ), or in our Etsy store. We're working on getting online ordering up and running on the domain. Our first in person appearance will be for Free Comic Day May 2nd at the NJ event run by Farpoint Toys / Level Up Entertainment.

In 100 words, tell us about a little thing that means a lot.

What means the most to me is just hearing from the person I'm with every day. Even if I don't see them, a phone call or a text to say I'm missed or being thought of means a lot to me. It reminds me that I'm not alone, and I'm appreciated, and I'll admit that I need to hear that. With everything I have to balance, a lot of the time I feel like I have to be Superwoman and do everything on my own.

I don't need big gifts or huge gestures. I just want to know I'm loved.
