A mysterious message arrives, inviting you to write a letter and make a new friend from far away places. How far away are those places? Well there's only one way to find out...

Write a letter to make a new pen pal. No matter how that letter is delivered from your world (email, messenger, owl, post office) , it finds its way to a pen pal - perhaps across space, time, and dimensions!

Be sure to comment with the rp tag in addition to your regular character tag.

Then check out what other people have posted, comment and make yourself a pen pal from far, far away!

Dear new pen friend,

Hi! My name is Michael Malone and I'm from Granite City, Colorado, USA on Earth in the year 2155. Though it is almost the New Year here, and then it will be 2156. I had a feeling I should be kinda specific, 'cause I have no idea when and where you will be from. Sometimes I get feelings about things and they turn out to be right. Part of being a psion. I was born this way, not enhanced by technology so that makes me a little rare in my time. A lot of people here get upgrades to their brains and bodies and all, but I'm into the natural thing.

So, I'm a private detective and our agency is called MJ Wolf Investigations. I'm the M of that equation, with the J being Jenny Lee and the Wolf being Alexander Wolf. They're my partners, in all senses of the word. We have an adopted daughter named Rose who is 14 now, and we have a lot of good friends and all who help out in our various investigations. Our latest case took us everywhere from Canada to an artificial island in the Gulf. It was crazy!

Now we are taking some time off for the holidays before getting back to work.

When I'm not working, my hobbies are playing virtual games, reading, exploring interesting places, playing the guitar, and setting things on fire pyrotechnics.

What do you like to do? What is it like where you are?

Please write back soon - looking forward to making a new friend!

Two things you always do around Christmas-time (or whatever winter festival holiday exists in your world)

I grew up on a farm in Kansas in the early 20th century, so Christmas was always a simple, yet still festive, time for us. My parents, brother, and I didn't have very much in the way of worldly goods, but we had the love of family. One of the things we always did for Christmas was make each other gifts. Dad always said that something made with my own two hands would mean more to him than anything I saved up to buy in a store. Another thing we always did was go to church. My mother was a devout woman who went to church every Sunday. My father was a busy man who saw more merit in staying home and working hard, much to my mother's dismay. But, on Christmas Day, Dad would give my mother the gift of her entire family dressing up and attending services with her.

Things are so different today. Since I was turned in the early 1920's, I've amassed a good deal of wealth to provide myself with a much more comfortable life than I could have ever imagined as a young man. My Christmas traditions, however, still stem from those days on the family farm. I try to make those closest to me some sort of gift to give them in addition to the things I buy them. I also go to church. Not many of my friends can understand that, but midnight mass is perfect for a vampire who doesn't wish to use enchantments to walk around in broad daylight.

Two things you never do around Christmas-time (again, or whatever winter holiday exists in your world)

I don't remember there being anything I specifically didn't do on Christmas when I was human. Today, however, I do make a point to not work on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I have my own business (a club), and I only open on holidays when I have staff who volunteer to work because they want to avoid any kind of family gathering or celebration or simply have nowhere to go. I always give them holiday bonuses and I know they get great tips on those occasions, plus I wouldn't deny anyone the chance to keep busy if being alone would cause them pain. I guess I have a gift for hiring misfit employees who are lost souls like myself. One other thing I never do around Christmas is watch holiday movies. I'm not sure why, but I find most of them a little too sappy for my taste. If that's what you like to do, more power to you. I just don't have the stomach for them.
