In honor of Martin Luther King day, let's talk about diversity in characters. Writing characters of different races, backgrounds, sexualities, and beliefs without resorting to stereotypes is one of our most important tasks as writers. Humanity has a lot of facets - and then there's aliens, vampires, and anthromorphs to consider! But speaking about the human-ish for now--
