charloftI celebrate Christmas, and this year I'm spending it away from my guys because my country needs me elsewhere. Will, Jason and I got married in August (well, Will and I are legally married and we both committed to Jason) and the previous Christmas was only the first one we'd spent together (we got married on the first anniversary of our first meeting), so it isn't as if we have any real traditions together, per se. There are some things we did, however, that I know are going to be a part of every Christmas we have together. Hopefully, I'll find out for sure next year.
Anyway, here's the stuff that we did last year that I'm hoping will become traditions for me and the men I love:
1. Shopping together for one new ornament each. Will said that he wants us to be able to fill a huge tree with just these ornaments one day. That sounds pretty fantastic to me.
2. Baking and decorating Christmas cookies. Well, Jason and Will do the baking. I'm in charge of quality control and decorating. Apparently I have a talent for icing things.
3. Exchanging one gift on Christmas Eve (for Jason - his family does this), then toasting each other at midnight and opening the rest of our presents when it's technically the 25th.
4. Having a big Christmas dinner with all our friends in attendance.
5. Christmas nookie after everyone goes home after dinner. Since we'd all ended up buying each other something naughty, we decided that every year we'd need to do that so we could wear/play with/try out our naughty presents during said nookie time.
There is one more thing I'd like to add to my tradition wish list for next year. If my husbands agree to it, I'd love for us to volunteer some time to a local charity. The three of us can decide on one together or alternate who gets to choose each year. However it happens, I think it'll be a great way for us to do some good and remember how blessed we are.
