Never Say Die

It was the worst day of my life. It was the day I felt life kicked me in the balls. He looked so peaceful, like he was asleep. I however knew it wasn't true. There was no light in his eyes, instead they were a discolored pale white. I wanted to hold him and wake him up like I had so many mornings to get him ready for school. Tempted to let the tickle monster attack and have him squeal to life like every weekend. Except I knew it wouldn't happen the way I wanted. He was simply just gone.
