It wasn't so much the character as the situation: in my (still incomplete, still untyped, still unposted...) Nano B5 fic, I wrote an event that worked out PERFECTLY with aired/written canon and ended up explaining a character's flaws and avoiding a time-travel paradox, and I didn't even do it intentionally! It was one of those totally intuitive 'eureka!' moments.
